Greetings to all owners of the Diamond Star Ranch!

The purpose of this letter is to share with you my excitement about the Diamond Star Ranch and how it is being so carefully developed in order to enhance open space, protect wildlife habitat and preserve our western heritage.

My favorite day of the year is our annual monitoring visit to the property. Per the terms of our conservation easement agreement, the Trust regularly "inspects" the property, as we do with all our easements to be sure that the conservation values are being maintained. There's never a worry at Diamond S, as the property only gets better...thanks to the amazing efforts of Jack Olsen, Cindy Pettit, and their dedicated team.

In a day-and-age when it seems there is a general disregard for traditions and links to the past seem irrelevant, Jack's labors to restore some of the historic structures is testimony to his special love of these lands. His work to create a legacy, rather than simply to tear down "stuff" that stands in the way of progress, makes the Ranch an extra-special place where the past joins the present to shape the future.

My heartfelt thanks to John Bourassa. He has clearly demonstrated that development and conservation can work in harmony. His approach is truly visionary and I hope it will become the gold standard for future developments, rather than emulating some of the debacles that now litter the County's landscape.

The Eagle County Land Trust is delighted to accept another 180 acre easement on two parcels contiguous to the 1,450 acres we already hold in trust. I am personally thrilled that this easement includes the renovated Howe cabin, which is a treasure. I sincerely appreciate John's efforts and energy to make this transaction a reality before year-end.

As you know, the Diamond Star Ranch is an incredible place to live and play. The Land Trust looks forward to helping keep it this way for your families and hopefully their families for many, many years to come.

Best wishes to you and your loved one for a happy, healthy and safe holiday season.

Cindy Cohagen, Executive Director, Eagle Valley Land Trust
